HOW TO GET HERE:
Walking
Located in the core of the market district, you can easily reach it from Parliament Hill, the National Gallery, or the Rideau Centre (shopping mall) in minutes. Follow George Street, which is one of the main pedestrian-friendly arteries of the market area.
Driving
The ByWard Market is centrally located in downtown Ottawa. Navigate to George Street.
Parking
Parking is primarily in nearby municipal or private paid parking lots (e.g., Dalhousie Street Municipal Lot, 93 George St Garage, or on-street paid parking). Be aware that traffic can be very heavy, especially on weekends and evenings.
Biking
Easily accessible via downtown bike lanes and routes. The pizzeria is on a busy street corner, but there are bicycle racks in the immediate market area, particularly near the main market buildings and courtyards.
Bus/O-Train
Take the O-Train Line 1 to Rideau Station. Take the exit towards Rideau Centre/William Street. From there, it is a short 5- to 10-minute walk through the market streets (like William and George Street) to the restaurant. Numerous OC Transpo bus routes (e.g., 5, 6, 7, 14, 17) also service the immediate area with stops on Rideau Street, Dalhousie Street, and Murray Street.
ACCESSIBILITY:
Housed in a historic building, the entrance has a small incline ramp. Staff can assist with the non-automatic doors in winter. The interior space can be tight; it is recommended to call ahead for ideal seating accommodations (like booths near the entrance). The patio is fully accessible. An ambulatory washroom is available in the women's restroom (staff can clear for private accessible use upon request).
The Grand Pizzeria, Westboro Beach
Situated in a newly built pavilion right on the scenic shores of the Ottawa River at Westboro Beach, this location offers a completely different atmosphere. It provides spectacular, year-round views of the river and is a convenient stop along the popular Capital Pathway and Kichi Zībī Mīkan (Ottawa River Parkway). It serves as an accessible hub for beach-goers in the summer and a welcome rest stop for skiers, bikers, and runners enjoying the multi-use trails throughout all seasons.
